April 30, 2009 Squeaking Seatpost Fix
If you have a Thomson seatpost and you think it is the source of a squeak there is a quick test you can perform. Use a 4mm Allen wrench and move the bolt back and forth a small amount. If the noise is from the post, you should hear it. If so, just remove the bolts, clean and re-grease the threads of the bolts and reinstall to no more than 60 inch pounds. Do not just tighten the bolts, excessive tightening will not cure a squeak and can damage the post. Also, do not grease anything other than the threads, do not grease the washers, rails, or clamps.

April, 2009 Notes for 29'r Riders
Some people have asked if they may use our 17 degree X2 stem on a 29 inch bike to get the bars lower. Assuming you are using the bike for cross country riding/racing, yes you may. If you are leaping off large rocks 6 feet to flat, no you may not. We also recommend using the 410mm length post for 29 inch bikes.
November 21, 2007 Notes on Torque
Our instructions for both our stems and seatposts call for grease, not anti-seize, only on the threads of the bolts. Greasing under the heads of the bolt is not needed and can greatly change the amount of force generated by the bolt at our recommended torque, this can lead to premature failure of your components. With all Thomson products please take special care to grease only the threads of the bolt and use a torque wrench. Doing these things prolongs component life and gives you a better margin of safety while riding.
